Continuing from the previous post, have you ever wondered why my body reacting to allergens when others don’t? should I just rely on antihistamines to get by?

First, we should define what is termed an allergy. “Allergy occurs when a person reacts to substances in the environment that are harmless to most people. These substances are known as allergens and are found in dust mites, pets, pollen, insects, ticks, moulds, foods and some medications.” (ascia.org.au 2019)

Our view of allergy could be more boarder than the commonly known conditions of allergy since any abnormal reaction from external stimulus/intake can be seen as allergy.

Most common conditions we see in our clinic are hay fever, sinusitis, hives, rhinitis /runny nose, eczema, mould infection and food allergies or intolerances.

So now you will be wondering “why am I reacting to allergen when others aren’t?”

We can write a whole book about this topic, but you already know the answer. Its due to your immune response.

So why do I have such a response?

According to our Oriental medicine, there is an energy that encapsulates our body, which is called the Wei Qi (protective energy) and this guards us against the vast array of stimulus that comes our way so we can relate this to our immune system.

Breathing action from the Lung helps to spread this protective Qi all over our body but the true genesis of this Qi comes from harmonic movement of our biomechanism.

If we don’t sleep enough, over or under exercise, over or under eat, wear inappropriate clothes according to the weather, can’t control our emotions or simply born with congenital weakness all of these impacts the generation of this protective Wei Qi, which ultimately impacts our immunity.

If you decide to seek alternative treatment, we can go through the history of your condition and find what/where is causing the weakening of this immune function and treat accordingly with acupuncture and herbal medicine.

“Beauty of Oriental medicine is that we treat the cause, not just the symptoms”

With Children, mostly allergies are due to congenital weakness or digestive issues so receiving treatment earlier will improve the condition quicker.

Furthermore, acupuncture is very effective to relieve symptoms of sinusitis, hay fever, runny nose and hives since the effect is immediate, we highly recommend you come in when the symptoms are at it’s worse.

Looking forward to caring for you and your close ones.
